Evoto has recently introduced an AI-driven colour matching feature to its already impressive retouching software. This new functionality not only allows you to match the colour grading of a selected photo but also incorporates automatic masking. This means you can easily edit specific subjects, features, or backgrounds without the need for manual masking. However, one notable drawback is that the software doesn’t reveal the specific adjustments it makes to achieve the colour match. For instance, it doesn’t display details such as curve adjustments, saturation tweaks, or modifications made in the colour grading panel. This can be a limitation for users who prefer to have insight into the exact adjustments applied during the process.
In comparison, Capture One offers a similar feature called Match Look. While it performs a similar task, it doesn’t appear to rely as heavily on AI, making the process feel less accurate but potentially offering more control for advanced users.
In the video below, I compare Evoto AI’s colour matching feature, Capture One’s Match Look, and ChatGPT’s approach to decoding image adjustments into descriptive text.
