How a Christmas shoot works
Shoots take place in my private home studio in Maidstone, a calm, warm space that suits couples, small families and children. You can choose a high-key look, bright and airy with a clean white backdrop, or a low-key look, rich and moody with warm festive tones. Both work beautifully on a Christmas card, and every studio photo you receive is professionally retouched.
Sessions last up to an hour. We start with a few family groups while everyone is fresh, then move on to smaller combinations, siblings, couples and individual portraits. Children rarely sit still for long, so I work quickly and capture the natural moments in between, which are often the photos you’ll love most.
Ready for cards and gifts
Christmas photos are usually wanted in time for cards and presents, so it’s worth booking early. November and early December dates are the most popular. Your favourite image can go straight onto Christmas cards or prints, so there’s nothing extra to arrange.
Studio or outdoors
The studio is ideal for small families and keeps everyone warm whatever the weather. If you’d prefer a winter walk, frosty parkland or a larger family group, an outdoor Christmas shoot can be arranged on request. For autumn colour earlier in the season, see my autumn photoshoots.

A Christmas studio session of up to an hour is £97 + VAT, which is £116.40 including VAT, with at least 12 professionally retouched photos.
When should I book a Christmas photoshoot?
As early as you can. Most families want their photos in time for Christmas cards and gifts, so November and early December dates go first. Booking in October or early November gives plenty of time to choose your favourites and get cards printed.

Yes. Your favourite photo can go straight onto Christmas cards or prints, so everything is sorted in one place.
How many people can you fit in the studio?
The studio is a home studio, ideal for couples, small families and children. For bigger family groups, an outdoor winter shoot gives everyone more room.
What should we wear?
Coordinated colours work better than matching outfits. Deep reds, greens, creams and soft knits suit a festive look, and plain fabrics photograph better than busy patterns or large logos. Christmas jumpers are welcome if that’s your style.
Will my children cooperate?
Little ones rarely sit still for long, and that’s fine. I work quickly, keep things playful and capture the natural moments in between, which are often the favourites.
Can we have an outdoor Christmas shoot instead?
Of course. Outdoor winter shoots are available on request, and a frosty morning or the low December sun can look beautiful.
Do you cover areas outside Maidstone?
Yes. The studio is an easy drive from Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells, Sevenoaks, Ashford, Rochester and Chatham, and outdoor shoots can be arranged further afield.
