Since my previous post there have been some great developments when it comes to getting Affinity studio running on Linux. It works cross distro, whether it's Arch, Fedora or Debian based. In the below video I talk you through the process, with the one line terminal command to launch the app, auto install the necessary dependencies, auto download and install the actuall app and a quick preview of it working. It also runs with Open CL support. This method launches within a hidden Wine layer so it feels and acts completely native, bar the save as dialog where you still need to navigate to your linux partition. I'm looking into a fix for that though, hopefully we can pin our fav folders within Wine via a few tweaks. A shoutout to Ryzendew on Github for coming up with this method. All links and necessary details in the video description. Oh, at the end I also touch on Winboat, a new Linux feature similar to Parallels for Mac where you can run a hidden Windows install and launch all the applications in their own window so that it feels more native. GPU passthrough is currently pending for that method though. Photography and design finally on Linux to a professional standard. This should help people adopt the Linux system more. I envision a future where we have an open source Mac OS equiavlent with our own hardware. I predict great growth in the Linux world over the next few years. I drink copious amounts of coffee whilst making these videos so if you would like to help support my coffee addiction, you can buy me a coffee here 😁
