Supermoon timelapse feature

Last week I went out the night before the Sturgeon Supermoon to capture it rising over the lighthouse at the Folkestone harbour arm.

I was reasonably pleased with the moonrise timelapse in Folkestone although I would have been happier if I shot a little bit further to the right so that the moon kissed the top of the lighthouse when passing. Unfortunately there was a lot of fencing in place, so there wasn’t much freedom to position myself with the camera. I actually shot it through a gap in the fence. It was also a bit windy so I had to stabilise the video the best I could in post.

The following night, I went out again on the actual night of the Supermoon so that I could capture it rising behind the Dungeness lighthouse. We were positioned nearly two miles away.

We had to walk nearly a mile and a half into the nature reserve to find a good spot overlooking the reservoir at Dungeness. It was a great spot but I don’t think I’ve ever been attacked by so many flies! Eww.

I was very pleased with both the size of the moon and the motion in this instance with hardly any stabilisation required. Again, I would have liked to position myself slightly different, this time to get more of the moon rise behind the lighthouse but was limited due to the bushes around the lake.

I have embedded the two new moon rising clips into the new feature below. I hope it presents a nice minute or escapism along with the cover music.
